pinhole photographs 2020
The Fourth Wall“ is a series of photographs taken with an experimental pinhole method on 4×5 inch black and white negatives. They address the topicof domestic labour and care – care understood on the one hand as work performed free of charge by women and on the other as a system of soft control, which creates the appearance of a relationship based on mutual dependence and gratitude.
I created the photographs through a daily registration between March 20th and May 5th 2020 during the nationwide lockdown due to the Covid pandemic. The photos were taken at home, in a situation of social isolation. The elements recurring in the images are fragments of windows, walls, houseplants but also flashes of my child‘s face, whom I was taking care of at the time.
