SITE-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION (20 SQ METERS OF PALACE BLUE PHOTO FILTER, SLIDESHOW) 2016
PERFORMANCE WITH Małgorzata Walentynowicz
PERFORMED AT THE Palace of Abbots, NATIONAL MUSEUM IN GDANSK, 2016
In the concert hall of the Palace of Abbots, artists Dorota and Malgorzata Walentynowicz prepare a series of performative actions based on the scores of Elena Rykova (RU) and Francois Sarhan (FR).
Windows of the room are covered with photographic filters. In the back a slide-projection is installed, consisting of fragments of images of nature and architecture, composed within the baroque ornamentation of the concert hall. Images, abstracted from reality through intense color and light, bind the interior and exterior as if penetrating stained glass mosaic.
Piano located in the center of the hall is used in the climax of the program, performance entitled „Bat Jamming”. The instrument is specially crafted – using props such as resonating Tibetan bowls or plates, magnets and brushes. Images and sounds create a fleeting spectacle, in which a childhood-like enchantment is intertwined with mature artistic gesture.
